Our Therapists

Amy Hansen, LPC

It can be hard to seek help; I respect you for wanting to improve your situation. If you choose to work with me, I will listen and help you create a plan, based on your strengths, to address the problem that brought you to counseling. I enjoy working with individuals (including adults, teens, and children), couples, and families.

Hablo español y tengo experiencia trabajando con latinos.

Dr. Elaine McFarlane, PsyD

Does anybody have a map, Anybody happen to know how the h--- to do this? Are lines from my favorite musical, Dear Evan Hansen. I resonate with them as a mom of young adults and a retired military wife. So often "I'm flying blind and making this up as I go." We need two things when we're overwhelmed--a plan and accountability. In other words, another person who has some idea how to find where I left myself and then how to help me move again in maybe a different direction. With less shame, less pretending, less judgment. More breathing room.

While diagnostic labels are helpful, I prefer to see people as whole, unique beings that need gentle reminders to see the "gold" within them. I like to help you tap into your resilience and strength, even when life is completely falling apart. In my office is a picture that says, "Help me believe the truth about myself, no matter how beautiful it is."

If you have lost sight of the person you were and maybe aren't sure you even want them back, you're not alone. But each of us have health and unhealth within us. We can grieve and let go at the same time we say yes to a new way. I wish I had a magic wand. Growth takes work--it can get ugly at times--but it's always worth the view from the top!
